BRADFORD -- Orville Briggs Ioder, 79, of Bradford died at 5 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in rural Bradford as a result of an auto
accident.
Born March 4, 1925, in Buda to Levi and Edith (Briggs) Ioder, he married
Iris Bates May 30, 1948, in Bradford. She survives.
He graduated from Bradford High School and attended local colleges. He
was a farmer, and served as Milo Township clerk for 20 years, Assessment
District 13 treasurer for eight years and Bureau County Farm Bureau
director for 12 years. He also served on the Bureau County Farmers Home
Administration Committee, Bureau County Extension Council, and Bureau
County 4-H Committee. He organized and promoted Bureau County Livestock
Feeders and served as director and also organized, promoted and
participated in Bureau County Corn Growers. He served as usher, financial
secretary treasure, chairman of the Administrative Board and as chairman
of the trustees for Leet United Methodist Church in Bradford. Later, he
served as an usher in the Henry United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church and Bureau County
Farm Bureau.
Also surviving are two sons, Randall (Kathy) Ioder of Lexington, Ky. and
Malcolm Ioder of El Paso; one granddaughter, Rachel (Robert) Ray of
Lexington, Ky. and Randall Ioder Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; one sister,
Marian (Paul) Adams of Atlanta, Ill.; one brother, the Rev. Glenn
(Dolores) Ioder of Pekin; one sister In-law, Jean Bates of Arvada, Colo.;
and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; one brother, James Ioder; a sister In-law, Alberta Ioder and
one brother in-law, Charles Bates, all preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry United Methodist
Church, the Rev. Ken Harris and the Rev. Lee Legg officiating.
His body will be donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois
in Chicago. Burial will be at a later date in Bradford Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Henry United
Methodist Church, Henry.
Memorials may be made to the Henry United Methodist Church, Leet United
Methodist Church in Bradford, and Bradford Rescue Squad.
Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford is in charge of arrangements.
