Death certificate cannot be found in Cook County or State of Illinois
offices. Do have copy of death notice in newspaper. He died March 13,
1921. It reads: "F URNER - John Walker Turner Sr. beloved husband of Mary
Nacy at his late residen ce, 117 South Parkside Avenue. Funeral Tuesday,
9 a.m. to St. Catherine Church. Interment private. Phone Kedzie 1400". He
was buried on March 15, 1921 along w ith Mary Nacy Furner, Harry James
Furner Sr. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside , IL. The location is: N
1/2 Lot 14 Block 4 Section D. There are no markers on the plot. According
to cemetery information John Walter died in Garfield Hospit al at age 68
years, 9 months and 4 days of myocarditis.

An odd note: Also f ound the following information at Calvary Cemetery,
Evanston, IL: One of John W alter Furner's legs was buried along side the
bodies of Catherine Furner and Jo seph Furner in Lot 37 Block 3 Section B
approximately 75 feet from southern dri ve. Lot is marked by one marker:
Catherine Furner 1824-1916. The lot was purhca sed by Mary Furner and
Catherine Furner in 1866(?) He may have lost his leg in a railroad
accident (not confirmed). John Walter's relationship with Catherine and
Joseph Furner is unknown. (Perhaps she is is mother)

and family living at 1549 Carroll Avenue. John Walter is listed at head
of household - white male born Ju ne 1847. Age 53 Married 27 years. Born
in Illinois. Birthplace of father: Engl and. Birthplace of mother:
Ireland. His occupation is listed as "Bookeeper". Th ey were renting the
property. Stated he could read, write and speak English.
