Andries owned several parcels of land in Schenectady, probably in Farm
No. 1 of the 20 farms into which the Great Flat west of Van Curler's
Bowery was divided. His son, Arent A., called Capt. Bradt, inherited
them. Andries was killed in the Schenectady Massacre, when French and
Indians surprised the inhabitants, killed 60 persons, and took 27
captives back to Canada after burning all but two houses in the stockade,
one being that of Catalyntje Bradt Van Ditmars, Andrie's mother.

The records of the massacre state that Andries was killed along with a
son, name unknown. The gap in births between Arent A. and Bathsheba
suggests their were two or three more children born during this period.
Margarita was undoubtably their daughter, named for her mother. Andrie's
widow, Margarita, married Harmen Vedder in December, 1691 at Schenectady.
