William Henry Reynolds

He was graduated from the University of Kansas in 1890, one of the first
with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. That
same year he started with the Edison General Electric Co. in Denver, CO
After 40 years, he retired on Dec. 31, 1930. During this time , his
activities covered the states of CO, IL, MI, MS, NY, PA, NJ, and Canada.

He was one of the pioneers of eletrical currents and motors.

At age 42 , he married Ida Maud Dool, age 28.

He was active in the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and also
in civic affairs having served as president of the Lawewnce Park School
Board and as a member of the M. E. Church Board for 10 years plus other
activities within the town.

Ida Maud Dool

!She was of the Dool family who migrated from Ireland to Canada in the
late 1830's and settled in a small village of Bishops Mills , Ontario,
Can.
where they farmed, raised dairy cattle, and made cheese.

!In late 1879/80 her family migrated to the States settling in Colo, IA
where she was born. However they did not stay long and returned to
Canada in 1882 and then migrated to New york City in 1890's. Here, she
grew up and met her future husband William H. Reynolds. They were
married in Spencerville, Ontario, Can. where her husband William was
working on the St. Lawrence River navigation locks for the General Elec.
Co. In 1911, they were moved to new General Electric Works at Erie, PA.

!After her husband 's death, she lived with her daughter, Catharine , and
moved with her to Iowa City, IA in 1950 until her death in 1964.

!Her records are in the hands of her daughter Charlotte , who lives in
Iowa City, Iowa as of this date, 31 Aug, 1993
